My First AU: The Fun Begins at Morning Coffee

Trevor English • Nov 15, 2016

AU 2016 is just getting underway, and everyone’s favorite event filled with free coffee and breakfast is kicking off the Tuesday festivities.

I arrived outside the doors about 6 A.M and there were already tons of people waiting to get into the hall filled with free food. For many, this is their first event of this AU, so it’s a great way to network and meet the people experiencing this exhilarating event with you.

I, for one, met two surveyors from Boston who were ready to get the day underway. One of the biggest things that will stand out to you when arriving at AU is the excellence of both the hotel staff and the Autodesk staff ready to help you every step of the way. You walk through the hall doors and are greeted by a bubbly man telling you to put a smile on your face and giving you a fist bump. I’ll admit, at 6:30 in the morning, this level of excitement is simply unprecedented.

The Check-in process was simpler than anything I’ve ever seen; something you’d expect at an event run by engineers. With literally two clicks of a button, you’re in. After you get your badge, you enter into the hall where morning bites and coffee is served. Glorious trays of food await you as you walk down the long aisle lined with servers ready to help. I’ve decided that I’m going to start every morning this way.

The day is young and AU2016 has a plethora of events and excitement ready to get underway. Be sure to follow along through “My First AU Experience” as I’ll be taking you on a personal journey through the entire week. If you didn’t get the chance to come this year, you can live vicariously through me. Stay updated here.
